GOESSEL — Elda S. Banman, 86, passed away on Monday (Aug. 30, 2010) at Bethesda Home in Goessel.
She was born on Nov. 3, 1923, in Marion County to Samuel J. and Selma F. Schmidt Banman.
She graduated eighth grade from Centre School in Marion County, and graduated from Goessel High School.
She worked as a store clerk for Crossroad Co-op Grocery, as a housekeeper in Wichita, and at Bethel Deaconess and Axtell Christian Hospital in Newton.
She was a member of Goessel Mennonite Church. Family was very important to her.
Survivors include two sisters, Linda (John) Schmidt of Newton and Mary Ann Bartel of Drake, Saskatchewan, Canada; two brothers, Sam (Norma) Banman and Kermit (Dolores) Banman, both of Hesston; two sisters-in-law, Irene Banman of Newton and Edmah Boese of Goessel; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Milton and Paul; and three infant sisters, Alice, Bernice and Dorothy.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Miller-Ott Funeral Home in Goessel.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Goessel Mennonite Church, with Pastor Mike Hiebert officiating.
Burial will be at Goessel Mennonite Church cemetery.
