Pedestrians prohibited on park’s Circle Drive

Pedestrian traffic along the east side of Circle Drive around Athletic Park is prohibited during construction of the Sand Creek environmental restoration project.

Pedestrians walking the circle are in the path of construction trucks that enter from Grandview, traverse the circle and enter the creekbed with materials. The contractor on the project, Utility Contractors Inc., is placing additional warning signs and safety rope along the inside of Circle Drive.

For those who want to view the construction activities, the First Street and Fifth Street bridges over Sand Creek have pedestrian walkways that overlook the creek.

Construction work hours will be changing to 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Saturday work is not necessary at this time but may be added, especially if inclement weather continues.
