WICHITA (AP) — Three developers vying to build and manage a state-owned casino in south-central Kansas will lay out their plans before the Kansas Lottery Commission next month.
The meeting is scheduled for Sept. 8 at lottery headquarters in Topeka.
This week, the Sumner County Commission endorsed a $225 million plan by Oklahoma-based Global Gaming LLC to develop a casino near the Kansas Turnpike’s Wellington exit.
The other two companies — Peninsula Gaming Partners and Harrah’s Sumner Investment Co. — have proposed to build casinos near the highway's Mulvane exit. The Mulvane City Council has given its blessing to Peninsula Gaming.
The Lottery Commission will write contracts with qualifying developers, then forward them to the Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board for consideration.
