Tabor College announced that Rebecca Faber, Hillsboro, and Matt Wiebe Hillsboro, have earned the distinction of being named a Presidential Leadership Fellows.
In announcing the selection, Tabor College President Jules Glanzer noted these are students of exceptional caliber.
“We are excited to recognize these outstanding student leaders,” he said. “They are young people with integrity, heart and a passion to serve.
It will be a pleasure to welcome them to our community, interact with them and the other Fellows and watch them grow and develop into outstanding leaders.”
Being named a Leadership Fellow, Faber and Wiebe each earned a $1,000 scholarship. The fellows were selected from an extensive pool of leadership candidates.
These 19 individuals were finalists for the Presidential Leadership Scholarship.
Dr. Linda Cantwell, vice-president for enrollment Management, and chair of the Presidential Leadership Scholarship Council, orchestrated the selection weekend.
“We enjoyed having the Leadership Fellows on our campus and that they had the opportunity to interact with our current students, faculty and staff,” she said. “We were excited to host such well-rounded, high-caliber students that expressed interest in a wide variety of academic areas through this search.”
Presidential Leadership Fellows will experience mentoring by Tabor College President Jules Glanzer, develop leadership skills through regular meetings and discussions with the class of Leadership Fellows and serve the Tabor College student population while pursuing academic achievements in the classroom.
The Tabor College Presidential Leadership Scholarship program was initiated in 2011, with the first class fellows coming to the campus in the fall.
The selection process included an extensive application.
Finalists were invited to the Hillsboro campus to participate in a competitive process which evaluated their skills of public speaking, writing, group problem solving and interactions with other students.
