ONE 'PURRRFECT' RESCUE

Firefighter/EMT Mike Estep holds one of two cats rescued from a home that caught fire at about 10:45 a.m. Wednesday at 1220 N. Madison Ave. in Newton. The fire started in the basement, causing an estimated $20,000 in damages to the home and contents. The fire was contained to the basement, and there was smoke damage throughout the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
