Editor’s note: The Kansan posed questions to the candidates running for three slots on the Sedgwick City Council. Three candidates did not return their information. Only one candidate turned in a photo.

• Name: Jason Froese

• Education: Associate of arts in mathematics

• Job: Hardwood Supply, door shop manager/inventory manager

• Family: Married to Samantha Froese (Danner); two children, Dylan, 2 years old, and Taylor, 1 month old.

• Community and public service: Burrton volunteer firefighter

• What experience do you have that prompted you to run for this position? I don’t have experience in a political office; however, I do have experience in hard work and dedication to achieve goals. I feel that is what the city needs.

• What prompted you to run for office this term? There is a need for new faces and fresh ideas on the council.

• What challenges does the city face in the next four years? What would you do to address those challenges? The city faces many challenges. A few of those I would like to help remedy are the need for better streets, lower utilities and economic development. We need to work hard on economic development, find ways to generate interest in the community and do anything we can to ensure the longevity of the school. To address these challenges, I believe the biggest impact can be made by finding a way to hire a full-time city administrator.

• What would you do to improve your city? Besides what I have listed above, I believe a big change can come about by strengthening our relationship with the neighboring communities. There are many things we can learn from each other. Developing those relationships will be very beneficial to our community as a whole.
