The Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center’s board of directors hear from staff members about plans for 2009 and beyond.
CEO Christopher Orwoll said he’s working to bring a major event to mark the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 12 moon mission, including attendance by two of its three astronauts.
Orwoll said the center needs corporate sponsors to cover costs of the astronauts’ honoraria.
The center also is developing an audio system in which visitors would enter a number on their cell phones to access a prerecorded tour.
The Cosmosphere also plans to expand its presence on the Internet, including podcasts available free on iTunes.
And the center plans to purchase a large-format digital projector to show more first-run movies and 3-D films, and a dome projector for the planetarium.
