INMAN —

Rep. Don Schroeder, R-Inman, has filed for a second term representing the 74th District, which includes parts of McPherson and Harvey counties.

During his first term in the House, Schroeder has served on the taxation, health and human services, and agriculture and natural resources committees.

While he hasn’t directly authored any bills, he has helped with some that have come out of the committees he has served on.

“In Topeka, the ability to move legislation is something that is learned over time,” he said. “The more time spent at the Capitol, the better you understand how it works.”

Before Schroeder became a state representative, he served five years on his local school board, 10 years as a county commissioner and 30 years in production agriculture.

“The 74th District is a pretty rural district. Hesston is the largest city. Being a retired farmer, I have the knowledge and understanding of issues that affect rural America,” he said.
