Two of about 60 members of the community pray during the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast Thursday at the Newton VFW. The event, which is hosted annually by the Newton and North Newton mayors, coincides with the National Day of Prayer.

The mother daughter singing duo of Melynnie, left and Chandler Williams, sing at the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast. The two sang two duets and lead the group of community members in hymns and patriotic songs.
