NEWTON —

The Newton–North Newton Area Planning Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the third-floor commission chambers at Newton City Hall.

Agenda items will include:

• Consideration of an application for and a public hearing on an appeal of Matthew and Amy Schmidt for a variance from Section 3.2-1 of the Newton zoning ordinance, which requires a garage must maintain a 5-foot side yard setback in this residential zoning district.

If granted, the variance would allow the construction of a residential garage structure at 622 E. Second St. in Newton with a one foot side yard setback.

• Consideration of an application for and a public hearing on a request from Alan and Jennifer Vogts for a zoning amendment pursuant to Article I of the zoning ordinances for property located on Anderson Avenue in North Newton.

The applicant requests the property be rezoned from the current Harvey County Industrial zoning classification to a Newton/North Newton I-1 (Light Industrial District) zoning classification.

• Receiving a presentation of the Post Construction BMP (Best Management Practices) Manual.

This manual requires permanent best management practices that are put into a development to improve the quality of storm water runoff from the site.
