Rodger Voth, 59, of Newton is taken to an ambulance following a bike vs. motor vehicle accident Monday afternoon at Eighth and Oak streets. Voth was on a bicycle going north on Oak Street, failed to stop at the stop sign and was struck by a car headed west driven by Shannan Burns of Walton, said Lt. Craig Dunlavy with the Newton Police Department. This is a “good reminder for motorists to keep an eye out for bicyclists and pedestrians, but this was kind of unavoidable on her part,” Dunlavy said. Voth was transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with serious injuries.
