On Sunday, Bethel College Mennonite Church, 2600 College Ave., North Newton, will have guest speaker John Powell, church relations associate with Mennonite Mission Network. Powell will speak during worship at 9:30 a.m. and Sunday school at 10:50 a.m.
He brings a wide range of practical and academic knowledge gained during 30 years of urban ministry and study, and is co-author of “Congregations Centered on God’s Mission,” a resource to empower congregations for mission.
Powell’s visit continues a summer worship series on “The Practice of Service,” concluding a year-long series on congregational practices that strengthen faith and witness. During the coming weeks, a variety of people will speak about serving God through mission and witness in the world.
