Join us for a continental breakfast from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Sunday school begins at 9:15 a.m. They have classes for all ages. They have a nursery available during Sunday school hour and during worship time for children ages birth through three years old.
Worship service is at 10:30 a.m. at St. Luke Church, 808 E. Sixth St., Newton. They offer children’s church, for ages 3 years though third grade.

n The youth of St. Luke Church are having a silent auction from Wednesday April 3 to raise funds for their summer mission trips.
The auction will be open to the public each evening beginning at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. All bids will close at 1 p.m. Sunday.
It will cost $1 per person to receive a bidding number. Some of the silent auction items include: power tools, books, home fashions, fine china, original Glynda Turley painting, room dividers, original jewelry designs, handcrafted children’s toys, concert ticket and services. The church requests bidders be present Sunday to win their bids.

n The women of First Christian Church will host one of three Spirit Fests sponsored by Kansas Disciples Women in April.
The Newton event will be April 2 with the theme “Becoming a Woman of Strength.” Worship and workshops will be led by a team from across the state.
Workshops include “Strengthening Your Faith through Bible Study,” “Strengthening Women through Service,” “Strengthening your Prayer Life” and “Strengthening our Global Sisters.”
The “Global Sisters” workshop will be about a Woman-to-Woman experience in Turkey.
Ann Foster of Manhattan participated in the experience and will present pictures and display items from the trip to help tell the story.
Spirit Fest will begin with registration at 9 a.m. and conclude with worship, ending at 3 p.m.
A snack and beverage will be provided at registration and a light lunch at noon.
Blessing Box offerings will be received as an over-and-above way to help fund the wider mission of the church. Since 1953, Blessing Boxes have been kept in the homes and offices of women across the church to enable them to express their gratitude for everyday blessings by giving to others.

Immigration topic at Shalom talk
Wednesday
n Immigration will be the topic for discussion at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Shalom Mennonite Church, 800 E. First St.
Emira Palacios from Sunflower Community Action in Wichita will be the resource person.
Palacios and her husband have been in the states for 25 years and, after working tirelessly for 25, finally became legal U.S. citizens five years ago.
She will reflect on their experience in becoming U.S. citizens and share the stories of others who have struggled to gain legal citizenship.
She also will bring updates on state and national legislation regarding immigration issues.
The goal of the discussion will be to better understand the struggles of immigrants and how we can become advocates on their behalf.
This meeting is open to the public and will be in the church sanctuary.
