NEWTON —

Tom Adrian of Newton, a candidate for the 72nd District of the Kansas House of Representatives, has opened a campaign office at 116 E. Sixth St. in Newton.

Adrian said the office will be staffed and provide a central location for his campaign committees and volunteers.

“Having spent most of my life in Harvey County, and more than 36 years in business and community service, I feel I know the district and its needs,” Adrian said. “I will provide a clear, steady and moderate voice in the state legislature.”

Adrian has been practicing law at the firm of Adrian and Pankratz, PA in Newton since 1972. He is a graduate of Moundridge High School, Washburn University and Washburn School of Law in Topeka.

“The state Legislature is locked in partisan arguments and unable to address the real needs of Newton and the State,” Adrian said. “This district deserves representation that focuses on solving problems, not playing politics.”

Adrian serves as the finance committee chairman at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, where he and his family have been members since 1973, and as president of the city of Newton’s Kansas Public Building Commission.

He also has been active with the Kansas West Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and served as the first chairman of the board of Newton Healthcare Corp. from 1987 until 1993.

He also has served in many other leadership capacities in the community.

He and his wife, Ann, have been married for 42 years.

They have two daughters, Lisa and Lori, and four grandchildren.

The 72nd District covers all of Newton and North Newton.
