Elmer Joseph Reimer of Loveland, Colo., went to be with the Lord on Sunday (Jan. 29, 2012) at North Shore Health and Rehab in Loveland.
He was born on March 21, 1919, in Goessel to Jacob and Agnes (Unruh) Reimer. He graduated from Goessel High School in 1938. On March 19, 1942, he married Emma Schmidt in Goessel. He had been a resident of Loveland since 1967, having lived in Kansas prior to that.
Elmer loved to farm the land, but he later took on other jobs to supplement their income. He did carpentry work and was part of a crew that did custom combining from Texas through the Dakotas during harvest. Many long hours were spent in the hot field cutting wheat, but Elmer enjoyed the work.
Later, he was employed by Graber Plumbing and Heating, and eventually went into business with Irvin Peters and Don Brubaker. The business was PB&R Electric and Sheet Metal. In 1959, he went to work for Mobil Oil and later with Standard Oil Company. Elmer’s job was to deliver oil, gas and other products to construction companies, gas stations and farmers. Emma took calls at the house for people who needed to have the product.
Elmer enjoyed fishing and Colorado sports teams, and he was a handy man. He loved bowling and singing in a men’s quartet. He also enjoyed restoring cars for each of his grandchildren’s 16th birthdays.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Milferd Reimer; and a sister, Alice Goerzen.
