Wink Hartman, Republican candidate for U.S. Congress, issued the following statement regarding the passage of Nancy Pelosi’s health-care legislation.

“I would have voted against Speaker Pelosi’s health-care reform bill. As I travel throughout the 4th district, it has become increasingly clear that Kansans are tired of the same politics-as-usual. This bill is the wrong answer to the wrong question. Instead of a government take-over of health care, we should have focused on practical solutions such as; tort reform and eliminating the barriers at state lines to create real competition.

“Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in Congress continue to push job-killing policies that are bad for small business and the economy. Through all of the smoke and mirrors about the true cost of this bill, one unfortunate fact remains — this bill is a government takeover of health care. We need to change Washington and can’t achieve that by sending the same type of politicians to Congress.”
