Tatum Kennedy High, 19 months, went to be with Jesus on Saturday (Aug. 20, 2011) surrounded by her loving family at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
She was born on Jan. 7, 2010, in Newton to Jason High and Racquel (Schmidt) Thiesen-High.
Tatum was an active little girl who brought joy and fun to all she encountered in her life. She will be remembered for her love of posing for her picture, playing in the water, and reading story books.
Tatum was an unofficial “ambassador” for the Newton community, attending ribbon cutting ceremonies and many city commission meetings with her mother and father. Tatum had learned several words she enjoyed, including “meow,” “doggie,” “momma,” “da eee,” “Jo Jo” and “Jenchee,” among others. She will be remembered for her love of dancing and being an energetic, happy little girl.
The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to their Newton community, staffs and friends during this difficult time.
Tatum is survived by her parents, Jason and Racquel of the home; sisters, Georgia and Gentry Thiesen, both of the home; and maternal grandparents, Myron Schmidt of Newton and Dianna Miller of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Sam and Sherre High.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton.
A celebration of Tatum’s life will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Community Church. The Rev. Dr. Susan C. Wickiser and the Rev. Cheryl Jefferson Bell will preside. A private family burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery in Newton. The family suggest the congregation wear colors of celebration to the service in honor of Tatum.
Memorials are suggested to the Tatum Kennedy High Memorial Fund, in care of Petersen Funeral Home or First Bank of Newton.
