On April 25, the Kansas Animal Health Department seized about 100 dogs from a breeder.
Caring Hands Humane Society in Newton took 10 of the dogs into care. Eight of these have found new homes.
One Dachshund is still waiting for a home, and one dog suffering from severe anxiety issues is in foster care in hopes it can be rehabilitated for life in a home environment.
The Dachshund, while very friendly, has some issues from living his life in a cage. He needs an experienced pet guardian to provide a foster situation for him.
Also, a family that bred gerbils as a hobby became overwhelmed and surrendered 19 of the critters to Caring Hands, which has re-homed a few of them but still is overrun with gerbils.
The gerbils are hand-tame. The adoption fee for the critters is $5 each, with a special of adopt one and get a second free.
