Jerry Sellers was found guilty of two counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child Thursday in Harvey County District Court for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old Newton girl.
Sellers was found innocent of a third charge of aggravated indecent liberties with the same minor.Sellers, a native of Salina, was living in Newton when the alleged abuse occurred. The first incident of which he was found innocent was alleged to have happened near Halloween of 2007. The other incidents were alleged to have happened around Thanksgiving of 2007.Sellers was acquainted with the victim. County Attorney David Yoder said the sexual contact was not consensual.Because the victim was younger than 14, the case falls under Jessica’s Law.This means Sellers will be facing life sentence with a minimum of 25 years before he is eligible for parole.Sellers also is facing charges of rape and indecent liberties with a child in Saline County for allegedly have sex with a 15-year-old girl. That case is scheduled for trial in June.
