Three highlights

1. A classic tale

Hans Christian Andersen’s story of "The Little Mermaid" has captured the imagination of the young and young-at-heart for generations, and became a Disney animated film in 1990.. In the ballet, the story  follows a young mermaid who is willing to give up her identity and her life in the sea to gain a human soul.

2. A family event

Wichita Ballet's "Ballet in the Park" series begins in the summer, with performances in the Wichita area throughout the summer and into fall. All Ballet in the Park performances are family friendly — previous shows have included "Alice in Wonderland" and "The Wizard of Oz."

3. A big cast

More than 40 ballet dancers of all ages will perform during the show.
