Halstead (1-0) at Pratt (1-0)
Halstead opened the season with a 22-7 win over Nickerson, while Pratt topped Hoisington 34-0.
For Pratt, Travis Theis rushed for 212 yards and four touchdowns. Thies also hit a pass for 14 yards. Bryce Winsor added 73 yards rushing and a score. Grant May, Jadon Koehler and Jarrett Bates each had six total tackles.
For Halstead, Scott Grider rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown. Grider also scored on a 60-yard punt return. Kaden Lopez added 55 yards rushing and a score. Aric Propst had 10 total tackles. The Halstead defense recorded six sacks.
Hesston (1-0) at Larned (0-1)
Hesston topped Hillsboro 42-36 last week while Larned fell to Smoky Valley 46-7.
Hesston’s Parker Roth had 201 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Jacob Eilert passed for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Grady Toews had 61 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
For Larned, Mason Perez passed for 58 yards. Perez also rushed for a touchdown. Jacob Smith rushed for 44 yards. Brock Skelton had 26 yards receiving. Perez and Wes Koch each had seven total tackles.
Heart of America
Remington (0-1) at Ell-Saline (1-0)
Ell-Saline opened play with a 48-7 win over Sterling. Remington fell to rival Sedgwick 45-6.
For Ell-Saline, Nick Davenport passed for 135 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns. T.J. Morrical added 79 yards rushing and a touchdown. Luke Parks had 76 yards receiving and a touchdown.
Weston Sommers scored for Remington on a 54-yard run.
Bennington (1-0) at Moundridge (1-0)
This game determines the bragging rights among the two HOAL eight-man squads. Bennington opened the season with a 50-0 win over Wakefield, while Moundridge topped Goessel 42-6.
Bennington’s J.T. Ohlson rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Tyler Stanley rushed for 86 yards and a touchdown and passed for 86 yards on two for two passing. Javon Allen had 123 yards receiving and a touchdown.
For Moundridge, Corbin Unruh passed for 87 yards and a touchdown. Cody Hazelton rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown. Brady Helms had 38 yards receiving and a touchdown. Daniel Kaufman, Jordan Ediger, Garrett Doherty and Dillon Vogts each added a rushing touchdown.
Wheat State League
Goessel (0-1) at Rural Vista (0-1)
Goessel lost to Moundridge 42-6, while Rural Vista fell to Solomon 46-0.
For Rural Vista, Dylan Worrell rushed for 34 yards and passed for 42. Cameron Campuzano had 29 yards receiving. Campuzano also had an interception.
For Goessel, Zach Zogleman had 145 yards rushing and a touchdown. Dylan Lindeman passed for 47 yards. Kale Funk had 31 yards receiving. Gage Diederich had 12 total tackles and two interceptions to lead the defense.
Little River (1-0) at Peabody-Burns (0-1)
Little River opened the season with a 52-20 win over rival Canton-Galva. Peabody-Burns fell to Centre 50-14.
For Little River, Graham Stevens rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown and passed for 13 yards. Stephens also returned a punt 65 yards for a touchdown. Hunter Thomas had 97 yards rushing and two touchdowns. Brayden Sears had 51 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Matt Dougherty had 13 total tackles on defense.
For Peabody-Burns, Jess Philpott rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown. Ro Weerts passed for 51 yards and rushed for 14 yards and a score. Jack Parks had 51 yards receiving. Danny Hammann had 12 total tackles.

Pretty Prairie (0-1) at Burrton (0-1)
The Burrton Chargers enter district play in week two of the season, hosing Pretty Prairie.
Burrton fell to Skyline 54-6, while Pretty Prairie fell to Wichita County 66-8.
Sedgwick (1-0) at Wichita Independent (0-1)
Sedgwick topped Remington 45-6 last week, while Independent fell to Douglass 36-14.
Sedgwick’s Hooper Schroeder passed for 502 yards and two touchdowns last week, while Colton Smith rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns. Kale Schroeder had six catches for 161 yards and a touchdown.
