It was a record-setting day for the Bethel College women’s soccer team Monday against Manhattan Christian College in a 14-0 Thresher win at Joe W. Goering Field.

Bethel set the school record for largest margin of victory and most goals scored – both set Oct. 2, 1997, against McPherson.

Bethel ties the record for fewest shots allowed at zero. Bekah Tonn sets the team record for scoring at three goals and four assists at 10 points. Bethel also set the team record for most points at 42 (14 goals and 14 assists).

Bethel scored eight goals in the first half and six more goals in the second half.

Kacie Torres scored three goals with two assists.

Rachel Craft and Araeleigha Heysquierdo-Macy each had two goals. Craft added an assist.

Taylor Edson, Samantha Simmons, Emma Sandstoe and Kali Shedd each scored a goal with an assist.

Bethel held a 47-0 advantage in total shots and 32-0 advantage in shots on goal. Haily Culp had 18 saves in goal for MCC. Tori Mosakowski had no saves for the Threshers.

The Thunder drops to 0-2.

Bethel is 1-1 and hosts Central Christian College at 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Tigers are 2-0 with wins over Williams Baptist and Central Baptist over the weekend in Arkansas.
