Hesston spikers

sweep tri

MINNEAPOLIS — The Hesston High School volleyball team swept a non-league triangular Thursday night at Minneapolis.

Hesston downed Hutchinson Trinity 25-22, 22-25, 25-14; and Minneapolis 25-14, 19-25, 25-23.

“This was a tough evening with good battles between three similar teams,” Hesston coach Jason Peters said. “We spent much of the evening siding out back and forth most of every set until we either pulled ahead or fell behind late. In the final set of the night against Minneapolis, we were down 20-23 and kept our composure to find a way to key several key blocks and kills to win the match. We had over 100 hitting attempts and more than 50 digs in each match. Our defense is picking up more balls, we just now need to find a way to improve our hitting percentage to capitalize on more of those chances. We get a little bit of a break now before tough matches with Cheney and Hillsboro next Tuesday.”

Hesston is 8-2 and plays at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Hillsboro to open CKL play.
