Bonner files letter of interest

H. Michael Bonner of Newton has submitted a letter of interest serve to on the city commission and fill an open seat. Bonner moved to Newton from Valley Center in 2014 where he was a mechanical engineer and program manager.  He is a member of the Quail Creek Homeowner's Association. He was a member of the board of the Valley Center Community Foundation before moving to Newton.

He joins Ron Eggert, Clint McBroom, Bill Hake, Rod Kreie and David Oller on the candidate list.

The seat was vacated when then-mayor David Nygaard passed away last month.

The commission chose to solicit letters of interest with the intention of appointing a new commissioner in May. The city will accept letters of interest through May 18. Letters are to contain a person's background information and be received by 4 p.m. May 18 by the city clerk's office to be considered. The clerk will create a list of all possible candidates for review of the commission at the May 22 meeting.
