A bank robbery in Newton leaves police searching for a suspect.

At approximately 5:45 p.m. Monday, a man walked into the First Bank at 1404 S. Kansas Ave. and produced a note.

"No weapon was brandished," said Newton Police Department Deputy Chief Craig Dunlavy.

After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the man left.

"He was only in there for about 45 seconds," Dunlavy said. "It was very short."

Videos and images of the man and his vehicle were captured and have already gone out to other law enforcement agencies.

"We've disseminated those videos and photos to surrounding agencies several counties away," Dunlavy said. "...We've already been in contact with the FBI."

The tellers were unharmed in the robbery.
