Hesston track

opens season

ANDALE – The Hesston High School track teams opened the season Thursday at the Andale Relays.

No team scores were kept. Hesston brought just 15 athletes to the meet because of the State Future Business Leaders of America convention.

For the Hesston boys, Parker Roth took fourth in the 100-meter dash in 11.70 and the 200-meter dash in 23.59.

For the Hesston girls, Kylie Klaassen took third in the pole vault in 9-6.

The team of Marisa Vogt, Klassen, Katie Hamilton and Alex Martin placed fifth in 4:43.31.

Hesston competes at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Burrton quint.

WHITEWATER — The Remington Bronco baseball team dropped a pair of non-league games to Cheney Thursday in Whitewater.

Remington lost 13-6 and 16-0. The second game ended in six innings on the 10-run rule.

In the first game, Cheney scored in every inning but the third. Remington scored in every inning but the first, fourth and seventh. Remington was hampered by nine errors.

Remington used three pitchers with starter Weston Sommers taking the loss.

Cheney used an eight-run sixth inning to break open the second game.

Kyle Thiessen and T.J. Wedel each went two for two hitting for Remington in the second game.

Shane Tillotson took the loss for the Broncos.

Remington is 2-2 and hosts Moundridge April 10.
