LEAVENWORTH — Three KCAC doubleheaders for the Bethel College softball team has led to three splits.

The Threshers traded a pair of games with Saint Mary Wednesday afternoon in Leavenworth, losing the first game 6-5 and winning the second game 8-5.

Bethel led 3-1 after 3 1/2 innings, but gave up three runs in the bottom of the fourth and two runs in the fifth. Bethel came close with two runs in the top of the sixth, leaving the tying run stranded in the top of the seventh.

Maddison Carr went two for three for USM, driving in two runs. Lindsey Fishman also drove in two runs.

Michelle Schrag drove in two runs for Bethel. Leslie Hoffman and Katie Schrag each drove in a run. Hoffman’s hit was her 115th making her Bethel’s all-time hit leader, surpassing Sarah Cunningham’s 113 from 2012 to 2015.

Samantha Torres went the distance for USM, allowing five runs, seven hits and four strikeouts. Baileigh Rager went 4.1 innings for Bethel, allowing four earned runs on five hits with two walks and a strikeout. Reagan Beckley finished the game, allowing a hit, a walk and a strikeout.

In the second game, Bethel took a 3-2 lead after three innings. Each team added a run in the fifth. Bethel scored three runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh. The Spires scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh, leaving the bases loaded when the game ended.

Alix Gallop went the distance for Bethel for the win, allowing six runs on 14 hits with two walks and five strikeouts. Torres went 4.1 innings in the loss, allowing four runs on seven hits. Paige Stewart finished the game, allowing one earned run on five hits with a walk.

Hoffman went two for three hitting with two RBIs. McDowell and Katie Schrag each went two for four with two RBIs. Jordan Hill went two for four with two runs scored.

Cassidy Harbert went two for four for USM, driving in two runs. Lindsey Fishman went three for four with an RBI. Abagail Gonzales went two for four with an RBI.

Saint Mary is 8-23, 1-3 in KCAC play. Bethel is 12-23, 3-3 in KCAC play. Bethel plays at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tabor. The Bluejays are 12-15, 4-2 in KCAC play.
