Bethel cheer

team fourth

BELLEVILLE, Ill. — The Bethel College competitive cheer team ended the season with a fourth-place finish Friday at the NAIA Southwest Regionals in Belleville.

Missouri Baptist won the meet at 83.75, followed by Tabor at 82.38, Lindenwood-Belleville at 72.16, Bethel at 71.39 and Wayland Baptist at 65.98. Bethel’s score was a season high.

"We finished our season strong for having such a young team," Bethel coach Joseph Gogus said. "This team has a bright future, especially with a strong recruiting class coming in."

Bethel finished fourth in both the prelims and in the finals. Missouri Baptist secured the automatic berth to nationals with the win. Bethel had qualified for nationals the last two years.
