Wingnuts

sign Jiménez

WICHITA — The Wichita Wingnuts signed former MLB third baseman Luis Jiménez to the 2018 training camp roster.

Jiménez played three seasons in the majors for the Los Angeles Angels, Milwaukee Brewers and Boston Red Sox. In 68 MLB games from 2013 to 2015, Jiménez hit .217 with seven RBIs.

He spent 10 seasons in the Angels organization and parts of one season in the Milwaukee and Boston organizations.

He spent the last two seasons with the LG Twins of the Korean Baseball Organization and the Aguilas Cibaenas of the Dominican Winter League.

Thunder falls

to Colorado

WICHITA — The Wichita Thunder fell to the Colorado Eagles 5-3 Tuesday night at INTRUST Bank Arena.

Wichita jumped out to a 3-1 lead early in the second period, but gave up four unanswered goals, including an empty-netter with 57 seconds remaining.

Brady Shaw scored two goals for the Eagles. Nolan De Jong, Emil Romig and Ryan Olsen each added a goal. Julien Nantel had two assists.

Kevin Dufour scored a goal with an assist for Wichita. Kevin Patterson and Ralph Cuddemi each added a goal.

Sam Brittain had 34 saves in goal for Colorado. Nick Riopel had 27 saves for Wichita.

Colorado improves to 33-13-0-4. Wichita drops to 29-20-0-4. Colorado leads Wichita by 10 points (five games) in the CHL Mountain Division with 19 games remaining. Wichita and Colorado play again at 7:05 p.m. today.
