Some arrests are just too easy, as was the case Feb. 8.

Newton Police made one of those just too easy arrests when they corralled Mikki R. Smith, 31, Wichita.

According to Cpl. Tony Hawpe, Smith came to the Harvey County jail to pick up an inmate who was being released. However, the car Smith was driving was stolen.

OnStar alerted the police department to the location of the stolen car, and disabled the car’s ignition.

As police investigated the vehicle, methamphetamine was found inside.

Smith was arrested on charges of a possession of stolen motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of stimulants.

This was not Smith’s first scrape with the law. According to mugshots.com, she was arrested and charged with larceny of an automobile by the Newcastle, Oklahoma, police department Aug. 15, 2017.
