Book ReViews, a non-profit used bookstore in downtown Newton, recently made a donation to HOPE Home Repair.

HOPE offers charity home repairs for low-income elderly and low-income handicapped home owners.  To be eligible for help, residents have to make less than $25,000 per year, own their homes and be current in their taxes. They are not required to pay anything for the repair work, but they are welcome to make donations to the program.

Book ReViews at 707 N Main St. gives gifts to local agencies wich are possible because the store sells donated books and is operated by volunteers. The store welcomes book donations and additional volunteers are needed.

All proceeds from Book Reviews are donated to charitable organizations in Harvey County. The store is staffed by volunteers. Former recipients include Circles of Hope, Prairie View, the New Hope, Grand Central, Bethel College Academy for the Performing Arts and to The Neighbor Store in Halstead.

Anyone needing home repair and who meets the qualifications for help can call Hope Home Repair at 316-284-1011. For more information about Book ReViews, contact Cheryl Major at 316-283-3442.
