record at meet

OVERLAND PARK — The Bethel College track team set three more indoor school records Friday at the Cavalier Night Relays at Johnson County Community College.

Julio Martinez won the men’s 1,000-meter run in a school record time of 2:34.45, also the top time in the KCAC this season.

"Julio ran another outstanding race," BC coach Jeff Hoskisson said. "He ran very controlled over the first two laps and then took charge and ran super confidently and pulled away from the field. He is running really well right now."

Freshman Robert Graham finished seventh in the 35-pound weight throw at 43-9 3/4, breaking the record he set last week. Graham went 33-2 1/2 in the shot put, followed by Josh Jackson at 26-8 1/4.

"Robbie continues to improve," Hoskisson said. "He is starting to get comfortable with the implement and the work he and Coach Anderson are doing is showing by his continued improvement."

Freshman Amondr’e Street set a school record in the men’s 60-meter dash in 7.29. Bruce Rosario broke the record earlier in the meet, running a 7.31 in the prelims.

Freshman Jen Andres won the women’s 200-meter dash in 26.20, just shy of her school record set last week. She finished fourth in the 60-yard dash in 7.93 and fourth in the 400-meter dash in 1:04.97.

"Jen had another great day," said Hoskisson. "We decided to try the 400 this week and she ran it well. She made the decision after that race that she wanted to do the 200 and then proceeded to win the thing."

Freshman Jennifer Meysing finished the 3,000-meter run in 12:39.80. Freshman Lori White went 29.62 in the 200-meter dash and a 1:07.27 to take eighth in the 400-meter dash.
