MOUNDRIDGE — Kiegan Vogt hit a 3-pointer with six seconds remaining to lift the Berean Academy boys’ basketball team to a 43-42 win over the Moundridge Wildcats Friday night in Heart of America League play.

“It doesn’t come down to one play because there were certainly some opportunities we had tonight that just felt like we didn’t get to come up with,” Moundridge coach Vance Unrau said.

The game stayed close throughout with a tied score of 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.

During the second quarter, Berean took the lead, and the Wildcats were down six points at the end of the first half, 13-19.

“We just didn’t execute the way we needed to, especially in the first half — the second half was much better,” Unrau said.

The Wildcats clawed their way back as they battled the Warriors in the third quarter, and the score remained tied going into the fourth quarter, 28-28.

Devin Rust led the Warriors with 11 points.

Junior Dillon Vogts was Moundridge’s leading scorer for the night with 21 points. Noah Eichelberger added 11 points.

Berean improves to 8-0, 2-0 in HOAL play, and hosts Sedgwick today.
