named all-star

WICHITA – Wichita Thunder goalie Shane Starrett has been named to the Mountain Division All-Star Team for the ECHL All-Star Classic noon Jan. 15 at the Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis.

Starrett is a rookie from Bellingham, Wash. In 16 games with the Thunder this season, he is 10-2-0 with a 2.52 goals-against-average and a .926 save percentage. He also played a game with the Bakersfield Condors of the American Hockey League, going 0-1-0 with a 3.02 GAA and a .925 save percentage.

Starrett came to the Thunder after playing two seasons at the United States Air Force Academy, where he was 42-15-9 in 70 games. As a freshman, he was 16-9-5 with a 1.92 GAA and a .924 save percentage. As a sophomore, he was 26-6-4 with a 1.99 GAA and a .925 save percentage. He helped lead the Falcons to an American Hockey Conference championship and a berth in the NCAA Regional Finals, falling to top seeded Harvard 3-2.

The All-Star Classic will be a three-on-three mini-tournament with the East Division stars facing the West Division stars and the Mountain Division stars facing the Central Division stars.

After the second semifinal match, the CCM/ECHL All-Star Skills Competition will followed, followed by the championship match.

The All-Star Classic will be televised live on the NHL Network.
