HALSTEAD — Daphne Williams scored 20 points and Karenna Gerber added 16 to lead the Halstead Dragon girls to a 50-25 win over Mulvane Tuesday in non-league play in Halstead.

The Dragons led 27-12 at the half and 44-17 after three quarters.

Kayla Newman and Madi McClain each added seven points for Halstead to account for all the Dragon scoring.

Erika Landes scored nine points for Mulvane, 0-6.

Halstead, 6-0, returns to play Jan. 5 at home against Smoky Valley to open Central Kansas League play. Halstead downed Smoky Valley 57-28 earlier this season.

SEDGWICK — The Sedgwick Cardinals edged rival Remington 35-26 in a defensive clash Tuesday in Heart of America League play at Sedgwick.

The Cardinals used a 10-2 second quarter to lead 19-9 at the half. Sedgwick outscored the Broncos 17-6 from the free throw line.

Grace Thompson scored 18 points for Sedgwick, 4-3, followed by Sydney Hilliard with 12. Thompson was 12 of 12 from the line.

Sage Westerfield scored 15 points for Remington, 2-4.

Sedgwick plays Jan. 5 at Inman. Remington plays Jan. 5 at Hutchinson Trinity.
