For the 12th year, Newton will host the Kansas High School Activities Association Eight Man Football Championships.

THREE HIGHLIGHTS

1. Two titles at stake

Each year there are two championships awarded in eight man football, one in Div. I and one in Div. II. That means two title games will be played at Fischer Field this weekend.

2. Big offenses

Games will start with the Div. I title game at 11 a.m. St. Paul High School will face Hoxie High School. Both teams enter the game 11-1, both knocking off previously undefeated teams in the sub-state to earn their right to play in the final. St. Paul has averaged 44.6 points per game in the playoffs, while Hoxie has averaged 41.33. 

 

3. A quest for perfection

In the afternoon contest, the Div. II Championship at 3:30 p.m. Hanover is making a run at an undefeated season. Hanover ended Scandia-Pike-Valley's perfect season in the substate game. Jetmore-Hodgeman County enters the final at 10-2 and looking to hand Hanover their first loss of the season.
