Support for Harder, Budde and Morton

As a current member of the USD 373 Board of Education, I have observed and listened to each of the six candidates running to fill three spots on the BOE. Before this race, I did not know any of the candidates. I admire each of the six candidates for being willing to step into the political arena. After careful consideration, I have chosen to support Jennifer Budde, Andy Harder, and Mallory Morton. None of these three are politicians. They are not running with an ideological slant or with a political ax to grind. Each is running because they are invested in the Newton school system.

Each of these candidates has lived in our community for many years with Andy growing up here, and with Mallory and Jennifer having married into families that have lived here for generations. The three have different backgrounds – Andy is a fireman and reserve police officer, Jennifer is a stay at home mom, who has worked as a dental hygienist, and Mallory is a stay at home mom, who worked in banking. However, with these differing backgrounds, all three have chosen to live in our community, raise their children here, and send their children to the Newton public schools. It is my belief that each will make an excellent member of the Newton BOE. I hope you will join me in voting for Andy Harder, Jennifer Budde, and Mallory Morton on November 7th.

— Matt Treaster, Newton.

Support for Becker

Angela Becker, who is running for a position on the Newton School Board, is not my relative, although I would readily claim her. We have become friends through Toastmasters International in Newton.

Angela is an ethical, advanced thinker and has the ability to work with varied temperaments and personalities. I feel that Angela would be a dedicated, unbiased servant for the students and teachers of Newton. With her intelligence, insight and integrity, Angela Becker will be an effective voice to work toward exceptional standards, positive learning environments; strong civility and community for Newton.
