Trevor Marcum led the Harvey County Sheriff's Department on a chase through portions of the county and the city of Newton before he was arrested Oct. 5.
Sheriff's Deputies spotted Marcum's car driving in the left-hand lane southbound near mile marker 42, north of Hesston, of I-135 and attempted a traffic stop.
Marcum attempted to flee, first driving through the Hesston exit and re-entering the Interstate. He drove at speeds in excess of 120 miles per hour before getting off of the Interstate at Exit 34, North Newton.
There he headed south through North Newton before turning eastbound on 12th Street in Newton. He turned southbound on Walnut and headed to First Street, where he again turned east.
When the gates of the railroad crossing on First lowered, Markum tried to flee northbound on Lakeview. As he drove on Lakeview the car he was driving struck a street sign and a parked car. Marcum jumped out of his car and tried to flee on foot before he was arrested on Lakeview Place.
He was apprehended with the help of the Newton Police Department.
Marcum was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs; no proof of insurance; expired registration; fleeing law enforcement by engaging in reckless driving; and interference with law enforcement.
No one was harmed during the chase or arrest.
