One girl was taken off a school bus at 3:37 p.m. Oct. 5 with a toy gun, following a police search of the bus while it was stopped in the First Mennonite Church parking lot at 427 E. First.

Police were called when the bus driver notified the school bus barn that they had been told a child had a gun on the bus, but the driver had not seen the gun personally. School transportation officials called 911 at about 3:30 p.m. to report the incident.

Harvey County dispatch confirmed that police found a toy gun in the possession of a juvenile on the bus. The juvenile was taken off the bus and to the school district office, which was right across the street from the incident.

The bus driver stopped the bus at the parking lot, where police came and searched the bus.
