A member of the Newton Police Department was injured Sept. 22 while assisting with a warrant search in the 300 Block of E. Fifth.
According to Newton Police, the officer was bitten by a dog during a search for marijuana and guns in a residence. The officer was treated and released.
In the morning hours of Sept. 22, the Harvey County ERT was dispatched to clear the home, as there were reports of guns in the home.
"That turned out to be accurate," said Lt. Scott Powell with the Newton Police Department.
The home was searched for drugs and guns, and officers found both within. Powell did not comment on how many weapons, or how much marijuana, was found.
Two people were taken into custody — Jamel Wagoner, 19, and Michelle Crawford, 36, both of Newton.
"They were targets of a drug investigation," Powell said. "They were taken into custody without incident."
