Authors to speak about trail

WHITEWATER — Gary and Margaret Kraisinger, authors from Halstead, will present "The Chisholm Trail:  The Rest of the Story" to celebrate the 150 year anniversary of the Chisholm Trail at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at Centre Point Church, 212 S. Main, Whitewater.

The Kraisingers are award-winning authors and have published three books dealing will the early herding of cattle from Texas to train terminals in Kansas — Abilene, Newton, Wichita and Liberal.  Join the Friends of the Whitewater Memorial Library and the Frederic Remington Area Historical Society for an interesting listen into the history of cattle trails. 





Ham and Bean dinner scheduled

The Harvey County Democrats will hold their annual Ham and Bean Supper at 6 p.m. Sept. 23 at the First United Methodist Church, 7th and Main Streets, Newton.

Speakers include Kansas State Democratic Party Chair John Gibson, U.S. Congress candidates Laura Lombard and James Thompson and State Representative Tim Hodge.  

Tickets will be available at the door for a donation of $7.
