First Presbyterian Church of Newton  recently announced a new minister, Pastor R. Scott McGinnis.  Pastor McGinnis, his wife and three children have moved to North Newton from Glendale, California, where he served as Pastor for the Grandview Presbyterian Church the past seven years. Pastor Scott's first Sunday in the pulpit will be 10:30 a.m. Sept. 10. There will be an Installation Service will abe t 1:30 p.m. Sept. 17.  Services are at First Presbyterian Church, 900 Columbus in Newton.  Everyone in the community is invited to attend.  Refreshments will be served after the Installation on Sept. 17. His education was obtained from Glendale Community College with an A.A. degree, the University of California, Santa Barbara with his B.A. in History, and Regent College, Vancouver, Brittish Columbia, Canada with a Master of Divinity with a church history emphasis.   His work and life experiences have been quite varied, from a bass player for a Christian rock band, to missionary work teaching English at Arabayev University, to volunteer work at a homeless shelter in Vancouver.  For more information call 316-283-0504 at the church office, or Pastor McGinnis at  818-720-9944.
