In accordance with Executive Order 10-12, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback has ordered flags to be flown at half-staff from sun-up to sun-down Aug. 22 to honor former Kansas Senate President Paul “Bud” Burke who passed away Aug. 16.

Burke, 83, served as Kansas Senate President from 1989 to 1997. The Republican from Leawood previously served as Senate Majority Leader from 1985 to 1988, and was a member of the Kansas House from 1973 to 1974.
