County commission to meet

The Harvey County commission will meet at 9 a.m. July 24 in the meeting room of the Harvey County Courthouse, 800 N. Main. 

Agenda items include a road striping proposal, a grant award for the Harvey County Health Department, a waste authority five year plan, a disaster relief determination, a bid opening for road and bridge, a discussion of a proposed archery range at East Park, a discussion of remodeling at the law enforcement center, adoption of the 2018 budget, an executive session to meet with legal counsel and a period for public comment. 


Newton commission to meet

The Newton City commission will meet July 25 for both a work session and a regular meeting in Newton City Hall, 201 E. Sixth. 

The commission will meet for a work session at 6 p.m. in the conference room for a discussion of the 2018 budget. 

The commission will meet for a regular meeting at 7 p.m. in the commission meeting room. Agenda items include closure of Athletic Park Circle for a benefit volleyball tournament Aug. 18, 19 and 20; closure of Athletic Park Circle and the Fifth Street bridge for a cardboard regatta Aug. 19; closure of streets for a parade Sept. 29; closure of one block of Sixth Street for the United Way Chili Cook Off; mayoral appointments; recognition of award recipients from the Wichita Business Journal; a presentation about domestic violence; a quarterly report from the Harvey County Economic Development Council; consideration of a temporary alcohol permit for the chili cook off; a notice of hearing for the 2018 budget; sewer improvements to Autum Glen;  a recommendation from the police facility task force; a discussion of a proposed event fee policy; improvements to the Warkentine House; a possible real estate sales agreement; a review of water rates for multi-family facilities with common water meters; and a period for public comment.
