Special Olympics team sets food sale to raise funds to buy sweatsuits

NEWTON —

Harvey County Special Olympics will have a food sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the basement of Salem United Methodist Church at First and Old Main streets.

The group is raising money to purchase new sweatsuits for the team. Among the items for sale will be beef jerky, Mary Ann Miller’s famous sugar cookies, four kinds of peppernuts (anise, gumdrop, black walnut and brown honey), cakes, pies, rolls, cookies, homemade jams and jellies, snack mixes, soups, dips, and cheesecake mixes.

Also available will be Pizza Hut cards and sports team jewelry designed by Stef Zimmerman, and a prairie star afghan will be raffled.
