BURRTON —

The pedestrian killed in a Thursday night accident has been identified as Bradley A. Wendt of Redwood Falls, Minn.

Wendt, 53, was walking northbound on the inside lane in the 9300 block of South Kansas at about 10:45 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a northbound vehicle, according to the Harvey County Sheriff’s Department. Preliminary investigation indicates a possible medical condition was the reason Wendt was walking in the roadway.

The driver attempted to avoid the pedestrian but was unable to and struck him on the passenger side of the vehicle. Newton EMS and sheriff’s deputies were dispatched, but Wendt was pronounced dead at the scene.

Alcohol is not considered a factor in the accident, and no charges are being filed at this time.

The name of the driver is being withheld pending further investigation, according to the sheriff’s department.
