Stucky qualifies for nationals

Just a few weeks into the forensics season, Bethel College has qualified its first competitor for the American Forensic Association-National Individual Events Tournament.

In the Sunflower-Sooner Swing, Part II, hosted by the University of Oklahoma on the Bethel College campus Sunday, Oct. 11, Matthew Stucky, senior from Moundridge, placed first in both Impromptu Speaking and After Dinner Speaking. After first-place finishes in these events Sept. 26 at Hutchinson Community College, Stucky has now qualified for both at AFA-NIET, to be held in April 2010 at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

In addition, Heather Garrison, senior from Haysville, placed fourth in Dramatic Interpretation and Alex Stucky, junior from Moundridge, placed fifth in Extemporaneous Speaking.

Also competing for Bethel were senior Dana Daugharthy, Iola, sophomore Sarah Unruh, Raytown, Mo., and freshmen Audra Miller, Hesston, Julia Miller, Hesston, Natasha Orpin, Moundridge, Natalie Stucky, Moundridge, and Aaron Rudeen, Osage City.
