Harvey County Sheriff T. Walton, and Harvey County Deputy Michelle Wilson announced two recipients of the 2009 Kurt Ford scholarship award in association with the Harvey County Explorers Post.

She has worked alongside the sheriff’s office, participating in various sheriff’s operations and programs. Senn’s parents are Troy and Diane Senn.

“The Harvey County Sheriff’s Office is proud to award Elizabeth a $500 scholarship toward her education,” a news release stated.

Senn plans to attend Wichita State University after graduating from Newton High School.

Michael Janzen, senior at Hesston High School, has been a member of the Harvey County Explorer’s post. Janzen has spent many hours working alongside the investigation unit of the sheriff’s office.

He has displayed a passion to learn in the area of law enforcement, a news release said.

Michael’s parents are Kyle and Carolyn Janzen.

“The Harvey County Sheriff’s office is proud to award Michael a $500 scholarship towards his future education,” a news release stated.

Janzen plans to attend Tabor College after graduating from Hesston High School.

“Everyone is aware of the passion that Kurt had for his job, but most importantly was the care and concern he had for others. We are very proud today to extend the first Law Enforcement Scholarship to these two young people with the same dedication that Kurt did. I am extremely pleased and thankful to be part of this occasion in honor of my brother’s memory,” Karla Winslow, Ford’s sister said.
