The Newton boys’ track team are hoping to come off strong from their state championship last spring.
The Newton girls were first in their league and at regionals and 14th at state last year.
The Newton track team will be lead for the sixth year by head coach Tad Remsberg.
He will be assisted by Richard Mick, distance; Greg Lehr, javelin; Tony Hein, long jump, triple jump and sprints; Justin Helmer, distance and high jump; Cory Buchta, pole vault; Russ Graber, throws; and Pete Anderson, throws.
“Both teams should be competitive this year,” Remsberg said. “Our girls team is returning most of our athletes from last year and should be very strong. Our boys team loses a tremendous senior class and will need our incoming athletes to step up quickly.”
