The Marion County Spelling Bee was conducted Feb. 10 in the Marion High School Auditorium. Twenty contestants competed from every elementary and middle school in Marion County.
Hillsboro Middle School announced its two contestants, both in the seventh grade, finished in the top three.
Bradli Nowak brought home the third-place plaque by correctly spelling “enfranchise.”
Claire Heyen became the Marion County spelling bee champion by correctly spelling “larynx” and “psychoanalysis.” Heyen will compete in the state spelling bee in Great Bend on Saturday.
